Cambridge Energy Alliance

This Cambridge-based non-profit needed a new look for its website. Working with Anthony Butler of Light, we developed this site using their existing identity elements, delivering a word-pressed based content managed solution integrating the main site with a standalone blog under a different domain name. You’ll notice the site doesn’t look like wordpress. I also did all the site photography—there isn’t a stock photo in the world that actually looks like Cambridge.

Energy 2.0

This blog acts as companion to Cambridge Energy Alliances main site, providing a forum for discussing a range of energy issues which range from the small-scale / local, to the national / global. Working with Anthony Butler of Light, we named, designed, and implemented the blog creating all pilot content, editorial and graphic, in a matter of weeks.

Ro0mmates USA

I did the logo and splash for this start-up, but funding ran out for the matching UI re-design. My favorite splash page full of stock photo people ever.

Boston Realty Hub

This start-up rental-real estate venture with its portal at onmarketboston.com is one of my main long-term clients. I did all the identity work, some guerilla marketing materials, and poked at some of the site design to the degree that the development process allowed.

Zaftigs

I did the design and photography for this Brookline, MA deli. The food is great here, the staff friendly and smart. I got to eat the food I was photographing. Who could ask for more?

Web 1.0 Clients

Is there any reason to go into detail on all this stuff? I had tons of big name Web 1.0 clients as a freelancer. I learned a lot about big business, business dysfunction, irrational exuberance, business travel, and big agency politics. Oh, and I learned a lot about software development. Names: Agencies: IDEO, Agency.com, Big Blue Dot, Corey McPherson Nash, Fitch, SIG at BSH, Digitas, etc. Companies: GE, Verizon, John Hancock, Fidelity, Bank of Tokyo, etc. All the work vanished, paved over, and most of it made hideous by big company dysfunction. If you want to see any of it I’ll dig it up.

The Wonderful World of Start-Ups

Ah, the dream. I’ve worked on perhaps more than my share of start-ups; consultancies, software, web 2.0, activist sites, social networking, you name it. I’ve participated in brave ventures that span the length and breadth of the web from A-Z. Every one a learning experience. Not a one made me rich. Sob.
